American Auto Trails > Pikes Peak Ocean to Ocean Highway

Route

(1/1)

nhammar:
Does anyone have a map of the route through Western Colorado. As a youth, I saw a PP-OO sign on the Debeque cutoff from Debeque over to Mesa Colorado, and my dad said that he also knew this as the PP-OO route. The date was approximately 1956.
Thanks

Parsa:
The headquarters of the Pikes Peak Ocean to Ocean Highway was in Colorado Springs. In 1925, the route of the highway was a winding one that largely still exists today in Colorado. From Colorado's eastern border, the PPOO follows US Highway 24 west through Colorado Springs, then north of Pikes Peak, and meets up with US Highway 6. The road then follows US 6 west to Grand Junction, where it meets with US 50 and is cosigned US 6 / US 50 to the border with Utah.
